The Columbia Valley’s ‘Yet-Kept Secret’
Known to many as the Bighorn Sheep Capital of BC (and to others as its Petunia Capital), the Village of Radium Hot Springs is most famous for the healing hot water springing from its earth. Located 264 kilometres (165 miles) west of Calgary, Radium burgeoned after a concrete bathing pool was built in 1914, and the town grew up around the hot springs. This internationally renowned village welcomes tens of thousands of visitors annually. Highway 93 leading in and out of Radium is a sight in itself, as the red cliffs of Sinclair Canyon encroach upon the road and tower over travellers.
